Errors and failures

Millions of processing events a day. A handful need attention. Which ones?

Bicycle finds invoice processing failures across the full event stream, triages each one, and opens a case with a person brought in only when needed.

Before

Invoice processing runs millions of events a day and a few fail: a missing field, a rejected batch, a confirmation that never came. Each one waits in a queue for someone to work out what happened.

With Bicycle

Failures are triaged before a case opens, so every case arrives with what failed and why, and people review only what the triage cannot settle.

What happens when a KPI moves.

  1. 01

    Detect

A processing failure is found in the daily event stream.

  2. 02

    Explain

It is triaged before a case opens: what failed, where, and the likely cause.

  3. 03

    Act

Bicycle opens a case in the CRM with the triage attached; a person reviews only when needed, and the operations team works the cases.

  4. 04

    Learn

The share of failures needing human review is tracked and brought down.

~20% → under 18%

of failures needing human review

Common questions

How many invoice failures actually turn into cases?
At Billtrust, about 4.6 million processing events a day produce roughly 12 triages and 10 CRM cases. Bicycle reads the whole event stream so your accounts receivable team does not have to watch it, and the team works a handful of cases a day, each one arriving with what failed, where and the likely cause already attached.
Is automated invoice-failure triage running in production anywhere?
Yes. Billtrust has run it in production since 8 April 2026, with Bicycle turning failed files into CRM cases for its accounts receivable operations team. 75 KPIs are configured across 4 live dashboards, so the same data that drives the triage also shows your team how processing is running day to day.
How do you know automated invoice triage is working?
Track one number: the share of failures that still need a person to review them. Bicycle measures it as the test of the system, brings a person in only when the triage cannot settle a failure, and works to bring that share down. At Billtrust it has fallen from about 20% to under 18%, and the team judges the product by it.
